Is your house challenged with low water pressure? What steps can you take to diagnose the problem?

LOW WATER PRESSURE

The Water Authority in Perth has committed to deliver 20 litres of water per minute. See https://www.watercorporation.com.au/faults/low-water-pressure.

Has there been a change to your water pressure recently, or has it always been bad?

If it is a recent outage, the first step would be to check if there is a current outage or restriction. You can do so here, https://www.watercorporation.com.au/faults/check-for-water-outages

There are really only a couple of possibilities. Is the problem may be isolated to the inside of the house? This is easily checked by comparing water flow to outside taps to the water flow inside.

You can check your flow by reading your water meter with a tap switched on and using a stopwatch or smartphone timer.

Some basics about this problem are:

The water pipes are old and are clogged. Obviously, if you clean them and there is still a slow flow, then you may have to explore other options. Consider the following before replacing the pipes.

  • Check the shutoff valve to see if it can be increased to give you better water pressure. Obviously, if it is at full force, and the pressure is poor, then the bottom solution may be the best option.
  • Low city delivery service. The city may have a policy to provide a low pressure flow to households because of the drought conditions. This makes sense and strive to live with this situation. [Call the city water department to confirm the official water pressure to home owners].
  • Check your pressure reducing valve. This may be low and so increase it to get a better flow.

However, if you have done all of the above, and the problem still exists, then the most costly one is to replace the old pipes.

Hopefully your problem goes away and you are a happy homeowner.

If this investment does not give the improved pressure you have to investigate other avenues. get INSPECTOR JET to come to your rescue.
