Have Roots in Your Plumbing Got You Down?
ROOTS IN PLUMBING
This problem shows up when any of your draining systems (kitchen, bathroom, etc.) drain slowly and/or gurgle. Remember roots seek moisture. If there is a break or gap in your plumbing system outside your dwelling, roots will find the gap and cause problems. If you have tried your best to clear the blockage, and there is still a problem, actions that you can consider are the following:
USING SALT: check with your plumbing supply store for the type of salt that you can use safely. The correct type of salt dries the roots out and allows the water flow to return to normal. But one has to follow the instructions on the salt package. By following the instructions provided you can try and clear the pipes of possible roots which are slowing the drainage. You may have to repeat this process a few times. The instructions on the salt package will guide you how best to solve your problem.
CUTTING ROOTS: if you have the tools and know how to use them safely, cutting the roots may be effective. Care must be taken that no further damage is done to the pipes. If one is unsure of where to dig to find the blockage from roots, it is best to call your friendly plumber – INSPECTOR JET.
REMEMBER: IT IS BETTER TO FIX THE PROBLEM EARLY. WAITING TOO LONG CAN RESULT IN VERY COSTLY REPAIRS.
